Projection of data

• Definition

Indicates what the future changes in a population would be if the assumptions (often based on patterns of change which have previously occurred) about future trends actually occur. (ABS n.d.) population projections are estimates of total size or composition of populations in the future (DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL AFFAIRS 1984).
